Comedian Steve Harvey
Born in Welch, West Virginia on January 17, 1956, American actor and entertainer, comedian Steve Harvey started his stand-up comedy routines in the mid 1980's. His discovery led him to host "It's Showtime at the Apollo" when Cedric the Entertainer left. The WB Network, recognizing his huge talent in comedy and hosting, gave him his own show The Steve Harvey Morning Show that started in 1996 and went on for almost six years. Comedian Steve Harvey's guests in the said show included the most popular music artists, award winning celebrities, as well as American Idols. This show of comedian Steve Harvey was later syndicated by Premiere Radio Networks that airs in 25 locations like New York, Chicago, Los Angeles, Dallas, Washington, D.C., Charlotte, Detroit, Kansas City, Philadelphia, and Atlanta from 6-10 a.m. EST. Comedian Steve Harvey continued his stand-up comedy stints, touring along with Cedric the Entertainer, Bernie Mac, and D.L. Hughley as the Kings of Comedy. Later, Spike Lee put this comedy act together into a movie "The Original Kings Of Comedy". After the end of his shows, Harvey continued to do minor roles as well as releasing an audio CD that featured aspiring hip hop and R&B artist on a record label he himself founded. He also founded the Steve and Mary L. Harvey Foundation, and currently is a spokesperson for Ford and Tracfone. Hi likewise authored a book, "Steve Harvey's Big Time", which later became the title of comedy and variety show (that was later changed to Steve Harvey's Big Time Challenge). This show went on air from 2003 to 2005. Aside from dominating the radio, comedian Steve Harvey starred in five films: Kings of Comedy (2000), The Fighting Temptations (2003), Love Don't Cost a Thing (2003), You Got Served (2004), Johnson Family Vacation (2004), and his last movie Racing Stripes in 2005. Among the awards comedian Steve Harvey received were from NAACP Image Awards including: 30th Annual, which he won as Outstanding Actor in a Comedy Series; 31st Annual, which awarded him Outstanding Actor, Outstanding Comedy Series, Outstanding Variety Series for Showtime at the Apollo; 32nd Annual as Outstanding Actor in a Comedy Series; the 33rd Annual as Outstanding Actor in a Comedy Series; the 34th Annual as Entertainer of the Year in 2000; and the Martin Luther King Jr. Keeper of the Dream Award. |
